How Luna and Winter Wyvern perform as teammates in Dota 2 7.41f, from ranked matches.
In Dota 2 7.41f, Luna and Winter Wyvern win 49.95% of ranked matches when playing on the same team, over 31,848 matches.
Setting up a big teamfight with Winter's Curse can feel awkward for Luna. Winter Wyvern clumps the enemy team together, which seems great for Moon Glaives. The problem is that the cursed hero, the one at the center of the dogpile, is immune to all damage from Luna's team. Luna can rain glaives onto the secondary targets, which do bounce off the invulnerable one, but her immense physical damage is completely wasted on the primary hero Wyvern has actually locked down. This core mechanical conflict prevents a clean setup.
Across a game, this means the duo's biggest abilities often don't align for offensive plays. Winter Wyvern wants to use her ultimate to catch an important enemy, but that's the exact hero Luna needs to be hitting. This can lead to fights where Luna has to wait for the ultimate to end before she can finish her target, giving the enemy team time to react. While Cold Embrace is a decent save for a fragile carry like Luna, their signature teamfight spells simply don't have a strong offensive connection, leading to an average pairing.
