Lycan + Sniper

Why this works

Pushing high ground with an early Roshan can feel awkward with this pair. Lycan wants to hit his timing and run at buildings with Shapeshift and his army, forcing the game to speed up. Sniper, on the other hand, is a static hero who needs time and space to farm key items before he can contribute safely and effectively from a distance. While Lycan’s Howl gives a nice damage boost to everyone, his entire kit is built around diving deep into enemy lines. This means he offers no stuns, slows, or saves to peel for a vulnerable backliner like Sniper.

The game plan often feels split. Lycan creates chaos in the enemy backline, but this leaves Sniper to fend for himself against any heroes that can close the distance. If the enemy draft lacks divers, Sniper can have a great game shooting from the back while the fight is focused on Lycan. More often, though, Sniper becomes the primary target and Lycan is too far away or too committed to his own attack to turn and help. This pairing puts immense pressure on the other supports to keep Sniper alive.
