How Monkey King and Winter Wyvern perform as teammates in Dota 2 7.41f, from ranked matches.
In Dota 2 7.41f, Monkey King and Winter Wyvern win 45.51% of ranked matches when playing on the same team, over 13,513 matches.
Pairing these two often looks good on paper but creates a dilemma in teamfights. The problem is a fundamental conflict between their ultimates. Monkey King wants every enemy inside Wukong's Command to be vulnerable, but Winter Wyvern's Winter's Curse makes the primary target's allies immune to damage. This means if both spells are used together, Monkey King's ultimate soldiers will do nothing to most of the enemy team. It effectively wastes one of the biggest teamfight spells in the game. Even a defensive Cold Embrace on Monkey King can be awkward, preventing him from attacking and building Jingu Mastery stacks while inside his own ultimate, leaving you with two heroes whose best spells simply don't mix.
