Phantom Lancer + Io

Why this works

Tethering a Phantom Lancer as he commits to a fight lets him build his illusion army much faster. Io’s Overcharge grants the attack speed needed for more Juxtapose procs, and the Tether itself keeps the real hero healthy and stuck to a target. This setup can make Phantom Lancer far more durable, allowing him to sustain through brawls that would normally force him to retreat. The damage reduction from Overcharge is also significant for the real hero, helping him survive the initial focus fire while his illusions begin to multiply and overwhelm the enemy.

The whole game hinges on keeping the real Phantom Lancer alive. Since Io can only connect to the main hero, enemies with strong area damage or ways to reveal the original can burst him down quickly, leaving Io stranded and vulnerable. While Relocate enables aggressive ganks across the map, a failed attempt can be a disastrous setback for both heroes. It often becomes a race: Phantom Lancer and Io try to snowball with early pickoffs, while the enemy team rushes items to clear illusions and punish the commitment before it pays off.
