Shadow Shaman + Spectre

Why this works

Catching a lone hero is what this pair does best. Spectre’s Haunt allows her to join a fight from anywhere on the map, but she lacks a built-in way to hold a target down. This is where Shadow Shaman comes in. His long-duration disables, like Hex and Shackles, provide more than enough time for Spectre and her Haunt illusion to secure a kill on almost any hero. Shadow Shaman can initiate the gank for Spectre to follow up on, or he can arrive after she has already jumped on a target, ensuring they cannot escape. The threat is global and creates constant pressure.

This combination dictates the entire mid-game. Once Spectre has her ultimate, the enemy team cannot split up to farm safely. Any hero that shows on the map alone becomes a potential victim. Shadow Shaman can use this pressure to safely push towers with Mass Serpent Ward, forcing the enemy to either respond and get picked off, or give up objectives for free. Their only option is to stay grouped as a team, which cedes map control and allows Spectre to out-farm everyone else on her way to becoming a late-game powerhouse.
