Timbersaw + Spectre

Why this works

Trying to build a draft around these two cores forces a difficult choice. Timbersaw thrives on creating chaos in the middle of a prolonged teamfight, zipping between trees and dealing massive area damage. He wants enemies grouped up and focused on him. Spectre, on the other hand, excels at isolating and eliminating a single, high-priority target. Her Haunt splits the fight across the map, creating a series of duels rather than the single brawl Timbersaw needs to be effective. Their fundamental approaches to winning a teamfight are at odds with each other, with neither hero providing the setup the other truly wants.

This disconnect is most obvious during the mid-game. Timbersaw is often ready to fight and create space, but Spectre is still focused on her own farm and timings. When Haunt does come online, the result can be clumsy. Spectre might jump a support in the backline, effectively removing herself from the main fight where Timbersaw is struggling against the enemy cores. Without reliable lockdown from Timbersaw, Spectre’s target can get away, and without Spectre’s damage on the primary targets, Timbersaw can get overwhelmed. The team is forced to play around two different win conditions that rarely overlap.
