Why this works

You might think Spectre only pairs well with big teamfight lockdown, but her real power comes from punishing isolated heroes. That's what makes Void Spirit such a strong partner. He can jump a support from long range, unload his damage, and get out safely. This instantly creates the ideal setup for Spectre: a lone, low-health target. The Haunt illusion can often secure the kill on its own with Desolate, feeding Spectre global gold while she continues to farm. It's a low-risk way to constantly apply pressure from anywhere on the map.

This threat comes online the moment Spectre gets Haunt. Void Spirit plays his normal aggressive mid-game, but now every gank attempt becomes a global play. The enemy team is forced to group up much earlier than they want to, which slows down their farm and gives up map control.
