This means you can't stack Death Ward on the same hero Wyvern has locked down, forcing you to use your major teamfight abilities sequentially or on entirely separate groups of enemies. While Maledict can still amplify the damage from the cursed hero’s teammates, the main damage source from Witch Doctor is often nullified on the most important target. This core conflict prevents the massive, fight-winning burst you might otherwise expect.

Success for this pair hinges on good communication and target discipline. The most reliable positive interaction is Winter Wyvern using Cold Embrace to save a channeling Witch Doctor from physical damage, allowing him to get a full-duration Death Ward. In fights, Wyvern often has to play counter-initiator, using her ultimate to split the enemy team or peel for her cores, rather than setting up a primary kill. If both players are on the same page, they can find openings. If not, they will constantly undermine each other's biggest contributions, leading to frustrating and ineffective teamfights.
