Abaddon vs Lion

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down Abaddon with a full combo is often a mistake for Lion. Aphotic Shield can instantly dispel both Hex and Earth Spike, completely ruining Lion's lockdown attempt. Even if Abaddon gets low, Borrowed Time makes Finger of Death a wasted cooldown, allowing him to turn and heal up. However, this entire defensive sequence relies on Abaddon having enough mana. Lion can exploit this major weakness with Mana Drain. If he can drain Abaddon's mana pool before a fight, Abaddon is left unable to cast his crucial saves for himself or his allies.

This dynamic forces fights to be about positioning and target priority. A smart Lion will often ignore Abaddon completely and instead try to instantly delete a different key hero. Abaddon's job is to stay in a position where he can react with a Shield or his ultimate before Lion can secure that kill. The outcome of a skirmish frequently depends on whether Lion can get his spells off on a vulnerable target first, or if Abaddon can successfully intervene and turn the fight with his defensive abilities.
