Abaddon vs Luna

How this matchup plays

Surviving Luna's initial burst damage from Eclipse is a lot more manageable when Abaddon is on the other team. A well-timed Aphotic Shield can absorb a huge chunk of that magic damage, and Borrowed Time makes it impossible for Luna to focus Abaddon down himself. This often denies Luna the quick, decisive kill she relies on to open up teamfights and take objectives. However, Luna's power isn't all in her ultimate. Her bouncing Glaives deal immense physical damage that can wear down an entire team, which is a problem Abaddon's single-target saves don't fully solve.

The matchup often comes down to positioning and farm. Luna will try to find an angle where she can hit Abaddon's allies with her ultimate and bouncing attacks, effectively ignoring him until his team is dead. Abaddon, meanwhile, wants to stay close to his own damage dealers to provide a crucial shield or bodyblock for them. If Luna gets a significant item advantage, her raw physical output can simply overwhelm Abaddon's defenses. If the game is even, his ability to stall her assault can give his own team the window they need to win the fight.
