Abaddon vs Magnus

How this matchup plays

Catching a hero in Reverse Polarity feels like a guaranteed kill, but against Abaddon it's often more complicated. His Aphotic Shield can be cast on an ally to instantly dispel the stun, potentially saving them from the immediate follow-up damage. This forces Magnus to be more careful with his target priority. Focusing Abaddon himself is also a poor choice, since Borrowed Time will simply cleanse the stun and heal him through the damage, wasting Magnus's biggest cooldown. Abaddon can't stop the initial pull and damage of the ultimate, but he consistently provides a way for his team to recover from it.

The matchup becomes a game of positioning and timing. Magnus will look for opportunities to catch multiple core heroes while Abaddon is out of position or silenced. A perfect setup that separates Abaddon from his carry is still a fight-winning play. Abaddon, in turn, needs to play defensively, shadowing his team's most valuable hero to ensure he's in range to apply his shield. Fights often come down to whether Magnus can find a clean initiation or if Abaddon can successfully react and mitigate the setup for his team.
