Abaddon vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Dealing with a Haunt can be deceptive. Abaddon is excellent at saving a single core from getting bursted, but Spectre's damage is spread across your entire team. An Aphotic Shield on one hero doesn't help the others taking damage from illusions. This forces Abaddon into a difficult position where his saves feel less impactful than usual. While Borrowed Time ensures he personally survives the initial assault, it does little to stop Spectre from wearing down his more fragile allies across the map.

The result is that Abaddon's team must play aggressively to end the game early. He provides a strong laning phase and can help create pressure that shuts Spectre down before she gets her core items. If the game goes late, however, the advantage shifts. Spectre isn't looking to kill Abaddon; she will use Haunt to find his backline teammates. Abaddon is then forced to react, but with Dispersion and illusion damage on multiple heroes, his single-target shield and heal can feel insufficient to turn the tide of a long teamfight.
