Ancient Apparition vs Drow Ranger

How this matchup plays

Surviving a late-game fight as Drow Ranger often depends on activating a lifesteal item to recover health. Ancient Apparition's Ice Blast directly negates this strategy by preventing all healing. Because the spell is global, Drow can't safely retreat to heal up after being hit; she's stuck with whatever health she has. The shatter effect also puts a hard timer on her life if she gets low, making it difficult for her allies' saves to have a lasting impact and turning her into a priority target that can't be kept alive.

This pressure isn't completely one-sided, however. The matchup forces Drow Ranger to play around vision and prioritize items like Black King Bar to block the ultimate. Her Gust is also a powerful tool for interrupting Ancient Apparition's spells from a safe distance or pushing him away if he gets too close. It really comes down to execution in teamfights. If Drow avoids the blast, she can typically overpower AA's team. If she gets hit, her ability to sustain through a fight is gone.
