Ancient Apparition vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Keeping vision up and controlling the map gets very difficult for Ancient Apparition's team. The core issue is Haunt, which lets Spectre jump directly on top of the fragile, immobile support from anywhere. Ancient Apparition’s primary defensive spell, Cold Feet, is easily broken by a well-timed Spectral Dagger, allowing Spectre to phase through terrain and escape the stun radius. This leaves AA completely vulnerable to Desolate damage whenever he’s found alone, which Haunt guarantees will happen.

This threat forces Ancient Apparition to play from his base for much of the game, unable to safely ward or join rotations. Every time he shows on the map, he risks giving up a free kill, which in turn limits the impact of Ice Blast. AA's team has to over-invest in protecting him, often ceding map control and objectives. Spectre, meanwhile, is free to farm and simply use her ultimate to delete a key support whenever a fight looks favorable, crippling her opponent’s teamfight before it even starts.
