Ancient Apparition vs Tusk

How this matchup plays

Landing an Ice Blast on Tusk can feel very effective, as it shuts down the regeneration he relies on to stay in fights after his initial burst. A Tusk without the ability to heal from items like Vanguard or a Mekansm is much less of a threat. However, Tusk is an expert at closing the distance and initiating on fragile backline heroes. A successful Snowball into Walrus PUNCH! is often a death sentence for Ancient Apparition, who has no natural escape mechanism. This trade-off defines the matchup: one hero punishes the other's core strength.

The game often comes down to positioning and vision. If Tusk can get the jump on Ancient Apparition before a major fight, his team can usually roll over the opposition. If AA can stay safe in the back and land a good ultimate on Tusk and his allies, their initiation falls apart because they can't survive the counter-attack.
