Anti-Mage vs Invoker

How this matchup plays

Facing Invoker as Anti-Mage is a classic test of initiation versus control. On paper, Invoker is a prime target: a high-intelligence spellcaster whose large mana pool fuels a devastating Mana Void. Anti-Mage's Counterspell can also negate a critical setup spell like Tornado or Cold Snap. However, Invoker is packed with defensive tools. A timely Deafening Blast or Ice Wall can stop a Blink assault cold, while Ghost Scepter completely negates physical damage, buying precious seconds for his team to counter-initiate.

The matchup’s outcome hinges on farm and vision. Anti-Mage needs key items like Manta Style or an Abyssal Blade to reliably kill Invoker before he can react. Until then, Invoker often dictates the pace of the game, using his global presence and teamfight control. Late in the game, it becomes about who gets the drop on whom. If Anti-Mage finds Invoker out of position, the kill is almost guaranteed. But if Invoker or his team sees the initiation coming, he can use his own disables to turn the gank around completely.
