Fighting for map control often hinges on a key interaction. Lifestealer can completely negate the damage from Mana Void by using Rage, turning Anti-Mage's ultimate into a dead spell. This allows him to play aggressively and survive burst. On the other hand, Anti-Mage can exploit Lifestealer’s tiny mana pool with Mana Break, which works even through spell immunity. A Lifestealer with no mana can't use Rage or Open Wounds, leaving him vulnerable and unable to stick to his target. This creates a tense dynamic where a single misstep can be fatal.

The game typically becomes a race against the clock. Lifestealer hits his power spike earlier and will try to force fights to shut down Anti-Mage's farm, aiming to end before Anti-Mage gets his core items and can split-push effectively.
