Anti-Mage vs Luna

How this matchup plays

Thinking of Luna as a simple spellcaster is the main mistake here. Her primary damage output is physical, coming from Moon Glaives and raw attack speed, which means Anti-Mage’s Mana Break is more of an inconvenience than a shutdown. It doesn’t stop her from tearing through a fight with right-clicks. Conversely, Luna’s ultimate can punish an Anti-Mage who blinks on her without vision, and she naturally builds items that let her stand and fight him directly, even when he gets his own core items online.

This all boils down to tempo. Luna comes online earlier and can group with her team to pressure towers and force fights. This puts Anti-Mage on the back foot, forcing him to split the map and avoid conflict while he farms. While a six-slotted Anti-Mage can certainly find and kill Luna, her team has a much larger window to build an insurmountable lead. The game is often decided before Anti-Mage gets the items he needs to turn the tables, giving Luna’s side a consistent, if small, advantage.
