Anti-Mage vs Timbersaw

How this matchup plays

Trying to sustain a fight against Anti-Mage is a losing battle for Timbersaw. His entire kit, from Whirling Death for damage to Timber Chain for mobility, relies on a constant stream of low-cost spells. Mana Break shreds his small mana pool with every hit, leaving him unable to fight back or escape. Without mana, Timbersaw’s Reactive Armor offers little help and he becomes a simple melee creep. Anti-Mage can also Blink away from most of Timbersaw's initiation attempts or even reflect his magical burst with Counterspell, neutralizing the threat almost completely.

This dynamic lets Anti-Mage dictate the pace of the entire game. Timbersaw wants to be an aggressive frontliner who makes space, but he can’t effectively pressure an Anti-Mage who is farming the other side of the map. If Timbersaw commits to a teamfight and uses his spells, he becomes the perfect target for a fight-ending Mana Void. This forces the Timbersaw to play passively and reactively, which is the opposite of how the hero wants to function, while Anti-Mage farms freely and scales into an inevitable problem.
