Arc Warden vs Witch Doctor

How this matchup plays

Dealing with a Tempest Double is often the key to this matchup. Witch Doctor can find a lot of success by landing a Paralyzing Cask that bounces between the real Arc Warden and his clone, effectively locking them both down. A follow-up Maledict can then secure a kill on the fragile hero. However, that same Tempest Double is Arc Warden's best tool for handling a Death Ward. The clone can be sent in to quickly destroy the ward from a safe distance, often turning Witch Doctor's ultimate into a wasted cooldown. This trade-off means neither hero has a guaranteed advantage when their key spells are on the table.

The game often becomes a battle of pacing. Witch Doctor wants his team to group up, find the real Arc Warden, and delete him before he can react. If they can force fights and keep the map controlled, they can prevent him from scaling. On the other hand, Arc Warden excels when he can avoid direct confrontations. By using his double to split-push and pressure towers, he forces reactions and creates space for his team. The winner is usually the one who successfully dictates the flow of the game, forcing the other to play on uncomfortable terms.
