Axe vs Oracle

How this matchup plays

Thinking False Promise can easily save a teammate from Axe is a common mistake. The real danger isn't Axe trying to Culling Blade a single protected target; it's Axe blinking in and using Berserker's Call on multiple heroes. Oracle is often a prime target for this, being too fragile to survive the lockdown and spins. Even if Oracle does get his ultimate off on someone else, Axe can still secure a kill with Culling Blade if the target's health drops low enough, completely ignoring the delayed healing.

Throughout the game, Axe dictates the pace of initiations. He is always looking for that jump on Oracle to remove the save potential from the fight entirely. This forces Oracle to play from extreme distances, which can make it hard to get his own spells off effectively. He can try to preemptively disarm Axe with Fate's Edict, but this requires perfect timing and vision. The pressure is on Oracle to react, while Axe gets to be the one starting the fight on his own terms.
