Bane vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Trying to use Fiend's Grip on Spectre is a suicide mission for Bane. All the damage he deals during the channel gets partially reflected by Dispersion, and since Bane has to stand perfectly still, he often melts himself before his team can finish the job. This turns his strongest spell into a self-destruct button. Even Bane's other single-target spells get punished the same way, making him fundamentally unequipped to deal with her. The irony is that Bane’s lockdown is perfect for setting up a Spectre Haunt gank when they are allies, but it’s completely nullified when he’s the one trying to initiate on her.

This problem only gets worse for Bane as the game goes on. His main job is to disable a key target, but if that target is Spectre, he fails. If he disables one of Spectre’s teammates instead, she can simply Haunt to the fight and often go straight for the vulnerable, channeling Bane in the backline. There isn’t a good answer for him. His best-case scenario is to use Nightmare to save a teammate from a Haunt illusion or to disengage, but he can never be the one to proactively start a fight against Spectre and expect to live.
