Bane vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Picking Windranger into a Bane is asking for a difficult game, primarily because his disables bypass her main defensive tool. Windrun's evasion and speed mean nothing to Bane's targeted spells. Fiend's Grip is a long-duration lockdown that holds Windranger in place, rendering her evasion useless and making her an easy target for his allies. Nightmare serves a similar purpose, instantly stopping a Windrun escape or setting up a gank. Bane doesn't need to land a skillshot or worry about right-clicks; he just points and clicks to neutralize one of the most elusive heroes in the game.

This dynamic forces Windranger to play on the back foot from the start. Laning against Bane can be a struggle, as he can trade hits and sustain himself with Brain Sap. In teamfights, Windranger is constantly under threat. She’s forced to buy a Black King Bar much earlier than she'd like, and she must use it preemptively. If Bane lands Fiend's Grip before she activates BKB, she can't escape. This pressure forces the Windranger player to wait for Bane to commit his spells elsewhere before she can safely join a fight, limiting her impact significantly.
