Drow Ranger vs Monkey King

How this matchup plays

Picking a melee hero who can jump on backliners seems like the natural response to Drow Ranger, but it's a trap with Monkey King. His entire plan revolves around using Tree Dance to get into position, but Drow's Gust completely denies that approach. The knockback pushes him away, and the silence that follows means he can't use Boundless Strike or his ultimate to recover. Monkey King is left stranded and vulnerable at the exact range Drow wants him to be, often before he can even land an attack to build Jingu Mastery.

This dynamic leaves the Monkey King player in a terrible spot all game. During teamfights, he can't reliably initiate on the main damage threat. His Wukong's Command is easily kited and punished by Frost Arrows, forcing him to either commit to a bad fight or use the spell defensively. For Drow Ranger, the matchup feels comfortable; she can focus on positioning and damage output, knowing her own kit provides a perfect answer to one of the enemy's key heroes. Monkey King needs a lot of help from his team's draft to even function.
