Earth Spirit vs Monkey King

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can drop Wukong's Command and win a fight against Earth Spirit is a common mistake. The problem for Monkey King is that Earth Spirit has multiple, instant ways to completely ruin that plan. A Boulder Smash can shove Monkey King right out of his own ultimate circle, leaving his soldiers behind to do nothing. A Geomagnetic Grip pull can silence him to prevent an escape into the trees, or simply interrupt the channel if he's caught casting. Even a simple Rolling Boulder is enough to stop the spell from going off and leave him vulnerable.

This dynamic makes teamfights incredibly difficult. Monkey King's biggest contribution is easily nullified, forcing him to play around Earth Spirit's positioning and cooldowns all game. He either has to wait until all the spells are used, which is often too late, or rush a Black King Bar. Even with spell immunity, Earth Spirit can still push him out of the ring with Boulder Smash. Monkey King’s best hope is to find a fight where Earth Spirit isn’t present, but that’s a tough ask against such a mobile hero.
