Ember Spirit vs Medusa

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down Medusa often feels impossible for Ember Spirit. Her Mana Shield is designed to soak up exactly the kind of mixed damage Ember puts out with Flame Guard and his attacks. While he can use Searing Chains to try and hold her in place, she's usually durable enough to absorb the full combo and turn the fight around. On the other hand, Ember is one of the most elusive heroes in the game. His ability to drop a Fire Remnant and escape means Medusa can't easily lock him down and finish the job, even with a well-placed Stone Gaze.

This standoff defines the matchup at all stages. In the mid-game, Ember Spirit wants to play aggressively around the map, but he sees Medusa as a target he can't kill alone. He's forced to play around her, picking off her supports instead. Medusa, meanwhile, wants to group with her team and force objectives, using her raw durability to walk down towers. Success for either hero often comes down to their team's ability to control the tempo. Ember needs his team to make space, while Medusa needs her team to protect her until she becomes an overwhelming force.
