Gyrocopter vs Luna

How this matchup plays

Trying to run at Luna as Gyrocopter is a fatal mistake. His main source of early burst damage, Rocket Barrage, requires him to get dangerously close to his target. This makes him the perfect victim for Luna’s Eclipse, as he has no innate escape to survive it once he commits. Gyrocopter is forced to play cautiously, which undermines his aggressive kit. Even when trading basic attacks, Luna’s Moon Glaives allow her to apply pressure from a safer distance, often chipping away at Gyrocopter and his supports before he can find a good angle to go in.

This advantage for Luna compounds across the game. She generally farms faster by clearing stacks with her glaives, letting her hit item timings for things like a Black King Bar sooner than Gyrocopter. A farmed Luna is incredibly difficult for Gyrocopter to handle, as his magic burst becomes less relevant and she can simply out-damage him in a direct fight. The pressure is on the Gyrocopter to get kills and snowball early, because if the game goes even, Luna’s faster scaling and direct counter-initiation will usually win her the fight.
