Huskar vs Pugna

How this matchup plays

Trying to jump on Pugna can feel like a trap. Huskar's entire game plan revolves around Life Break and fighting at low health, but Pugna’s kit is designed to punish exactly that. Life Drain can quickly reverse the situation, healing Pugna while finishing off a low-HP Huskar. Pugna's Decrepify also stops Huskar's physical damage cold, completely wasting his commitment and buying time for allies to react. Even the act of using Life Break is punished by Nether Ward, chipping away at Huskar before he even lands. These direct counters make a head-on assault from Huskar very risky.

The matchup often comes down to which hero gets to execute their plan first. If Huskar catches Pugna out of position without support, he can usually secure the kill before Pugna can channel his spells. In larger fights, however, Pugna can stay in the backline. Once Huskar dives a target, Pugna is free to use Decrepify to save an ally or cripple Huskar himself. It becomes a game of positioning and vision control, where a misstep from either hero can be fatal, leading to a very even and volatile engagement.
