Invoker vs Witch Doctor

How this matchup plays

Trying to channel Death Ward against an Invoker is a real test of timing. Invoker has several spells like Tornado or Deafening Blast that can instantly interrupt the channel from a safe distance, completely wasting Witch Doctor's biggest cooldown. On the other hand, if Witch Doctor can land a good Paralyzing Cask and follow up with Maledict, Invoker is often too fragile to survive the follow-up damage, even without the full ultimate. The entire interaction comes down to who gets their spell off first and whether Invoker is silenced or stunned before he can react.

This back-and-forth defines the matchup at all stages. During the laning phase, Witch Doctor’s constant pressure with Maledict can make life difficult for a greedy Invoker. Later in the game, it becomes a duel of positioning. If Witch Doctor gets the jump from the trees, Invoker can evaporate. But if Invoker has vision and is prepared, he can easily control the Witch Doctor, cancel his spells, and leave him stranded. The fight often depends entirely on which of the two gets to initiate on their own terms.
