Lion vs Medusa

How this matchup plays

Picking Lion into Medusa thinking you have a direct counter can be a trap. The idea is that Mana Drain burns through her Mana Shield, making her vulnerable. In practice, Lion has to stand still and channel that spell, leaving him exposed to Medusa or her teammates. His Finger of Death also has to chew through her entire mana pool before it touches her health, often feeling underwhelming unless she's already low. While his lockdown is always good for holding a target, it doesn't solve the core problem of her immense effective health pool.

The matchup usually comes down to timing. Early in the game, Lion can be a real threat, punishing any overextension and setting up kills on a still-fragile Medusa. If his team can capitalize and snowball, it works. But if Medusa gets farmed, the dynamic flips completely. She can often survive his initial burst, turn with Stone Gaze, and mow him down. Once she gets a Black King Bar, Lion loses most of his ability to control her in a fight, making it much harder to stop her rampage.
