Lion vs Oracle

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst a target down can feel impossible when Oracle is on the other team. Lion's whole game plan is to use his disables to set up a quick kill with Finger of Death, but Oracle's kit directly interferes with this. A well-timed False Promise means the target can't die, absorbing Lion's entire magical burst and often leaving him with nothing. Even Fate's Edict can be enough to negate the damage from Finger of Death if cast on the target beforehand. This direct counter-play makes it very difficult for Lion to secure kills on important heroes.

This whole matchup often comes down to which support gets caught first. If Lion can find and Hex the Oracle, he can usually be deleted before he has a chance to cast his life-saving spells. Because of this, the game becomes a contest of positioning and vision control. Lion's team will look for smoke ganks to pick Oracle off, while Oracle's team will try to bait Lion's spells onto a durable core. The outcome is rarely certain and depends heavily on which player is able to react faster to the other's movements.
