How this matchup plays

Using Wukong's Command on Luna feels like trapping yourself. If she has Eclipse ready, she can drop it right on top of Monkey King, who is stuck inside his own ultimate and takes a huge amount of magical burst. His illusions don't last long against bouncing Moon Glaives, either. Even if he survives the initial burst, Luna's high base armor and agility gain mean she can often stand her ground against his physical attacks better than most carries, making it difficult for him to secure the kill even if he gets his Jingu Mastery stacks.

This dynamic shapes the whole game. Laning against Luna is difficult because her glaives constantly push the wave and chip away at Monkey King's health, denying him safe opportunities to trade. As she builds her core items, she farms much faster and becomes a bigger threat in teamfights. Monkey King relies on finding openings from the trees, but Luna's team can play around her, and her high movement speed makes her a difficult target for Primal Spring. He needs his team to provide perfect lockdown, while Luna can often win fights by simply surviving his initial jump and turning on him.
