Luna vs Phantom Lancer

How this matchup plays

Trying to focus down a target in a teamfight is where this matchup gets complicated. Luna’s Moon Glaives want to bounce between a few heroes to maximize damage, but Phantom Lancer floods the screen with illusions. This spreads her glaive bounces thin, massively reducing their impact on any single target. Her Eclipse is supposed to be a major burst tool, but the beams are easily soaked up by the illusions, often leaving the real Phantom Lancer completely unscathed. It forces Luna to rely on her team to find the real hero for her, which isn't always possible in a chaotic fight.

The result is a game that often becomes a race against the clock. Luna typically farms faster and can come online sooner with her core items. Her team needs to leverage this early power spike to secure objectives and try to end the game before Phantom Lancer gets too difficult to handle. If the game drags on, Phantom Lancer's ability to diffuse Luna's damage only gets stronger as he gets more items. A Luna who gets a strong lead can certainly win, but the longer the game goes, the more it starts to favor PL’s illusion-based chaos.
