Luna vs Witch Doctor

How this matchup plays

Fighting near a creep wave or her own team is how Luna wants to operate, but this grouping makes her a prime target for Paralyzing Cask. A good bounce can lock her down long enough for Witch Doctor to apply Maledict, severely hampering her ability to sustain through a fight with lifesteal. Because Luna is not naturally durable, being held in place for even a moment is often a death sentence, especially if Death Ward is available. This forces her into a reactive position, waiting for the stun before she can commit to a fight.

The entire mid-game revolves around Luna’s Black King Bar. Once she has it, she can often run straight at Witch Doctor and ignore his setup. The goal for his team becomes baiting out the BKB duration before he commits his own spells. Luna can also turn the tables; a Witch Doctor caught channeling his ultimate is a perfect, isolated target for her Eclipse. The matchup often comes down to which hero gets the jump on the other, as both are fragile and can be burst down quickly if they misstep.
