Magnus vs Monkey King

How this matchup plays

Trying to set up a good Wukong's Command against a Magnus is a losing battle. Monkey King's entire game plan relies on controlling a fixed area with his ultimate or finding high-ground advantages with Tree Dance. Magnus has two perfect answers for this. Skewer is a straightforward way to drag Monkey King completely out of his ultimate's zone, wasting the long cooldown. It's also a reliable tool for pulling him from the trees, foiling ganks and escapes. On top of that, Reverse Polarity is a massive lockdown that can catch Monkey King and his clones, turning his strongest spell into a liability.

This forces the Monkey King player to be incredibly cautious all game. Every jump from the trees feels risky, as a well-timed Skewer or Horn Toss can lead to his death. In teamfights, he's often forced to wait for Magnus to use his spells on someone else, which may never happen. A smart Magnus will save his abilities specifically for Monkey King's ultimate. This pressure forces the Monkey King into buying a Black King Bar much earlier than he'd like, but even that isn't a perfect solution, as Magnus can simply wait out the duration before Skewering him away.
