Trying to land a perfect Reverse Polarity can be frustrating when a stray Paralyzing Cask bounces over and stuns you mid-animation. This is the core issue for Magnus. He needs to commit to a position to be effective, but Witch Doctor excels at punishing that commitment. A well-placed Maledict on Magnus before he goes in means he's unlikely to survive even a successful initiation. While Magnus can use his mobility to set up plays, Witch Doctor’s constant threat of stuns and curses makes every attempt risky.

Across a game, this creates a tense dynamic. Magnus is always looking for an opening to catch Witch Doctor before he can react. A clean initiation where Magnus gets his ultimate off first will neutralize the threat of Death Ward entirely. However, the Witch Doctor player knows this and will position defensively, holding his abilities to specifically counter the dive.
