Mars vs Monkey King

How this matchup plays

Trying to build Jingu Mastery stacks against Mars is a frustrating experience. His Bulwark blocks a huge amount of damage from the front, making it incredibly difficult for Monkey King to get his combo going in a straight-up fight. Mars wants to land a Spear of Mars and trap him, but this isn't a simple task. Monkey King's mobility from Tree Dance makes him a slippery target to pin down, and he can even use it to hop out of Arena of Blood if a tree is available inside. Neither hero has an easy way to enforce their game plan on the other.

This creates a lane that often feels like a stalemate, with both heroes respecting the other's kill potential. Mars can't commit aggressively without being kited, and Monkey King can't trade effectively into Bulwark. Later on, teamfights revolve around this same core tension. Mars is trying to catch Monkey King with his combo, while Monkey King is looking for an angle to jump the backline without having to go through Mars first. It often comes down to which player has better positioning or catches the other with a crucial ability on cooldown.
