Mars vs Witch Doctor

How this matchup plays

Locking enemies in Arena of Blood is usually a fight-winning move, but it creates the perfect scenario for Witch Doctor. He can place Death Ward safely outside the ring, and its projectiles fire right through the barrier, hitting everyone Mars has trapped. The Arena becomes a deathtrap for Mars's own team, especially if Witch Doctor lands a Maledict on the clumped-up heroes first. Even Mars has a hard time tanking the damage, as the ward can easily hit his flank and bypass Bulwark's protection.

This dynamic forces Mars to play an entirely different game. He can no longer confidently trap the enemy core; he must instead try to catch Witch Doctor first, which is a much harder task. A mid-game fight can swing completely when a well-placed Arena is turned into a liability by a Death Ward channeled from the trees. Witch Doctor has to position carefully, but the pressure is ultimately on Mars to solve a problem that his own ultimate creates.
