Medusa vs Phantom Assassin

How this matchup plays

Jumping on Medusa feels frustrating for Phantom Assassin. Most of the physical burst from her crits is absorbed by Mana Shield, which she has few ways to drain quickly. This forces Phantom Assassin to commit for a long time to secure a kill, leaving her exposed. If she does try to close the distance for a full attack, Medusa can use Stone Gaze, forcing PA to either turn and flee or get petrified. This defensive standoff means PA can't easily find the quick pickoffs she relies on.

The entire matchup often comes down to a late-game farm race. Phantom Assassin will be building toward items like an Abyssal Blade or Nullifier, looking for a way to lock Medusa down and prevent her from reacting. Medusa, on the other hand, is buying time to get tankier with items like Eye of Skadi or to build enough damage to simply out-fight PA. The winner is usually whichever hero hits their crucial item timings first and gets the jump in the ensuing teamfight.
