Medusa vs Storm Spirit

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can burst a farmed Medusa is a common trap for a Storm Spirit player. The problem is Mana Shield. It absorbs so much of Storm's initial magic damage that he'll burn through his entire mana pool long before he can threaten her life. If he tries to stick on top of her to finish the job with right-clicks, Medusa can simply activate Stone Gaze, forcing him to either stop attacking or get petrified. Even during the laning stage, Medusa’s Mystic Snake constantly pressures Storm's own mana, which he needs for both farming and escaping.

This leaves Storm Spirit with a very narrow window to be effective. He might find a kill with an early Orchid Malevolence before she has a defensive item, but that opportunity closes quickly. As the game goes on, Medusa becomes an impossible solo target. In teamfights, Storm has to choose between wasting all his resources on a hero he can't kill, or trying to pick off a support while Medusa's Split Shot tears through his own team. The best plan for Storm is to avoid Medusa entirely and win the game on the other side of the map before she comes online.
