Medusa vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst Medusa down with Focus Fire often feels like a waste of a cooldown. Her Mana Shield is simply too effective at soaking up that kind of single-target physical damage, usually giving her enough time to turn with Stone Gaze or for her team to react. On the flip side, Windranger's Windrun makes her an elusive target for Medusa's primary attack. However, Medusa's Split Shot arrows will still hit other targets nearby, and Mystic Snake provides reliable damage and mana drain that Windranger can't easily avoid. This creates a standoff where neither hero can easily dominate the other in a direct fight.

The matchup really comes down to game tempo. Windranger has the advantage in the early and mid-game, where a successful Shackleshot can secure a kill on a pre-farmed Medusa. Her goal is to leverage this timing to create pressure and end the game before Medusa gets her core items. If Medusa survives the laning stage and her team can protect her while she farms, the game shifts completely. A farmed Medusa can often ignore Windranger entirely and just march through her team, making this a classic race against the clock.
