How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down a Medusa with purely magical damage is a tough spot for Zeus. All of his damage is the exact type that Mana Shield is designed to soak up, turning a fight into a battle of resources rather than a quick kill. Zeus will often empty his own mana pool chipping away at Medusa's, only to see her still standing with a comfortable health bar. While he can apply pressure from anywhere with his ultimate, a direct confrontation tends to favor Medusa’s unique durability, as she is built to absorb exactly this kind of sustained magical output.

This matchup really comes down to a race against the clock. Early on, Zeus can be a real nuisance in lane, making it difficult for Medusa to farm. His team can use this pressure to try and control the map and end the game before she gets her key items. If the game goes late, however, the dynamic flips. A farmed Medusa can stand in the middle of a fight, ignore Zeus’s damage, and tear his team apart with Split Shot. The winner is usually decided by which team can better execute its game plan: ending early with Zeus’s pressure or stalling for Medusa's late-game power.
