Monkey King vs Phantom Assassin

How this matchup plays

Trying to build up Jingu Mastery stacks on Phantom Assassin feels awful. Her passive Blur provides so much evasion that Monkey King often can't land the consecutive attacks he needs to activate his main damage source. This forces him to rush an MKB, delaying his other core items and leaving him vulnerable in the mid-game. Even if he gets close, Phantom Assassin wants to end the fight immediately. Her whole kit is built around bursting a target with a few massive crits after a Phantom Strike, and that burst frequently kills Monkey King before he can get a full combo off or benefit from the Jingu lifesteal.

This dynamic makes teamfights difficult for Monkey King. Wukong's Command creates a zone he wants to fight in, but Phantom Assassin isn't forced to stay there. She can easily disengage with her blink or simply activate a BKB and kill him inside his own ultimate. As a result, Monkey King has to play around her, relying on his team to lock her down before he can commit. Meanwhile, Phantom Assassin can actively hunt him across the map, knowing she wins most direct confrontations unless she gets caught completely by surprise.
