Monkey King vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can escape on the trees is a fatal mistake against Shadow Shaman. That entire game plan falls apart the moment he uses Hex, instantly grounding Monkey King for an easy kill. Even if the Hex is dodged, Shackles provides another long-duration root to lock him down. This dynamic gets even worse when Wukong's Command is used. Monkey King commits to fighting in a specific circle, making him an easy target for Mass Serpent Ward and the full duration of Shaman's disables.

From the laning stage onward, Shadow Shaman makes Monkey King's life miserable. It's hard for MK to trade effectively or build Jingu Mastery stacks when threatened by constant lockdown. Later, any attempt by Monkey King to scout or split push using the trees is incredibly risky, as he can be caught and killed before his team can react. In teamfights, Monkey King is forced to play passively, waiting for Shaman to commit his spells on another target. If he jumps in first, he's shut down before he can do anything.
