How this matchup plays

Hitting Timbersaw often feels like you're only making him stronger. Each of Monkey King's attacks builds up Timbersaw's Reactive Armor, making subsequent hits less effective. To trade back, Monkey King needs to land enough consecutive hits to activate Jingu Mastery for its lifesteal and damage, but by then Timbersaw is already incredibly tanky. This core conflict puts both heroes in an awkward standoff, where neither can comfortably commit to a kill without a significant advantage. It's a pure battle of attrition.

The dynamic rarely changes as the game progresses. Monkey King relies on Tree Dance for positioning and escape, but Timbersaw's spells can clear entire forests, leaving him stranded on the ground and vulnerable. A successful gank for either hero often depends entirely on which of their key passives is active first or who has better support from their teammates. Ultimately, the fight comes down to execution and which hero's team can better enable their game plan, as neither Monkey King nor Timbersaw has a clear, built-in way to dominate the other.
