Monkey King vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can burst Spectre down with Jingu Mastery stacks is a common trap. All the damage Monkey King needs to do to kill her gets partially reflected by Dispersion, so he often ends up killing himself in the process. This problem gets even worse during Wukong's Command; every single soldier's attack feeds damage back into Dispersion, turning Monkey King's big teamfight ultimate into a liability that can melt his own allies. Spectre is one of the hardest heroes to focus, and trying to force it backfires badly.

As the game progresses, Monkey King finds himself with no good options. His plan to use Wukong's Command to lock down an area is completely undone by Spectre's Haunt, which lets her simply jump to a different fight or pick off a support on the other side of the map. Even Monkey King's signature tree-based mobility is not a safe haven, as Spectral Dagger allows Spectre to chase him through terrain or escape his initiation. He is left with no way to safely apply his damage to the enemy carry.
