Trying to steal a useful spell from Oracle is a constant challenge. Rubick is always looking for the game-winning Spell Steal, and False Promise is one of the best spells in the game to get. However, Oracle's other abilities are not nearly as good for Rubick. In fact, stealing Purifying Flames is often a mistake, as it can end up healing the target without a way to dispel the damage. A savvy Oracle player knows this and can use his low-cooldown spells to deliberately bait Rubick or overwrite a more valuable spell before it can be stolen.

The matchup often comes down to a duel of reflexes and mind games in every teamfight. Oracle wants to cast False Promise and immediately follow it with something else, giving Rubick a tiny window to react. Rubick needs to be watching Oracle's every move, ready to press his button at the exact right moment to grab the ultimate. Whichever player wins this specific interaction usually gives their team a major advantage for that fight, which is why the overall matchup feels so dependent on execution and who outplays whom in the moment.
