Oracle vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Picking a save support into Spectre feels natural, but Oracle is often a trap. Spectre's entire game plan revolves around using Haunt to find and isolate a key target. For Oracle, this is a nightmare. He has no mobility to escape a Reality jump, and the moment he's separated from his team, Desolate tears him apart. Even if Oracle manages to cast False Promise on an ally, Spectre can often switch targets or deal enough sustained damage with illusions and Radiance that the target dies when the ultimate ends anyway. It's a fundamental mismatch of tools.

A good Spectre will actively hunt the Oracle all game long as soon as Haunt is available. This forces the Oracle to play from behind his team at all times, limiting his vision and ability to make plays. The only counterplay for Oracle is to stay glued to his cores, which can make his team clump up and become vulnerable to area-of-effect spells. A Spectre player understands this and will look for any opening to pick off the Oracle, knowing that if the support falls, his team's saves are gone and the fight is usually won.
