Oracle vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Spreading poison across an entire team seems like a winning strategy, but it plays right into Oracle's hands. Venomancer relies completely on slow-ticking damage over time, and Oracle’s kit is designed to counter exactly that. False Promise makes a key ally immune to dying from Poison Nova, allowing them to continue fighting while being healed. The primary kill threat from Venomous Gale is also consistently removed by Fortune's End, a basic dispel available throughout the game. Oracle can even use Fate's Edict offensively to disarm Venomancer, stopping him from applying Poison Sting with his attacks and forcing him to rely on spells that can be purged.

This dynamic makes the game consistently difficult for Venomancer. During the laning phase, his harass is frequently negated, making it hard to secure an advantage. In later teamfights, a single False Promise on the right hero can completely nullify the impact of Poison Nova, turning a fight-winning ultimate into a minor nuisance. Venomancer's only real option is to try and burst Oracle down at the very start of a fight. If Oracle is allowed to cast his spells freely, he will systematically dismantle everything Venomancer tries to accomplish.
