Phantom Assassin vs Io

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down a core with a few critical hits gets complicated when Io is on the other team. A well-timed Overcharge through Tether adds a significant amount of damage reduction, often giving Phantom Assassin's target enough time to survive the initial jump and get help. This forces PA to either commit longer to a kill or back off entirely. The save isn't guaranteed, though; it fully depends on Io being in the right place at the right time, with the spells ready to go. If he’s caught alone or silenced, he can’t stop the assassination.

This dynamic leads to a cat-and-mouse game across the map. The Phantom Assassin player will look for opportunities to jump on Io first, removing the defensive utility from the fight before going on his real target. On the other side, Io has to master his positioning, staying close enough to protect his allies without becoming an easy first target himself. Fights between these two heroes often hinge on which one gets the jump or catches the other slightly out of position, making the outcome of any gank attempt feel very uncertain.
